LUK CommUNITY Press Release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE03/09/2021

LUK, Inc. to Host a Series of Supportive Community Activities Thanks to Funding from the Community Foundation of North Central Massachusetts.

LUK, Inc. is excited to announce $55,000 in grant funding from the Community Foundation of North CentralMassachusetts (CFNCM) in partnership with the MA Executive Office of Housing andEconomic Development. Over the next five months, LUK will offer a variety of supports for vulnerable children and adults in the North Central Region, who are struggling due to COVID-19. Special focus will be on community members who are not already connectedto support services. “During this critical time of struggle for many children, adolescents, and families across Central Massachusetts, LUK feels honored to receive funding from CFNCM,” said Jacquelyn Reinert, LUK’s Assistant Director of Trauma Services. “Although our agency is hard at work to provide responsive services to families, the additional funding provides us with the unique opportunity to reach out to communities that may not otherwise interact with a mental health agency like LUK.”The engaging activities will be staffed by LUK clinicaland support staff who will also have the ability to connect youth and their families toother services as needed.

The activities over the next several months will include virtual and socially-distant in-person programming within the service area of the Community Foundation of North Central Massachusetts. Some of the planned activities include adventure-based activity groups, coping and self-care skills, social-support movie nights, and stress/trauma management groups for parents and caregivers. LUK is looking forward to engaging local families in a way that meets their needs. “For the past year most of our youth have been trying to navigate the new, impossible normal. Youth are social by nature, and the isolation, disruption of sports and other extracurricular activities, the stress of remote learning and loss of routine has taken its toll,” added LUK’s Director of Community and Family Support Services, Melissa Murphy. “We are pleased to offer this opportunity to the youth and families of North Central Massachusetts.” For more information about the upcoming activities, please email This email address is being protected from spambots.
