Supporting LGBTQ+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer/Questioning) Youth
Nationwide, nearly 200 state bills this year have been filed that seek to erode protections for LGBTQ youth. The Texas governor put out a discriminatory order which is harmful to transgender youth and their families who love them. Parents and caregivers who tune into their children’s emotional health are critical to helping alleviate destructive negative thoughts which can cause ongoing depression. The Texas order contradicts what we know is important for youth who identify as LGBTQIA+: caregivers who love and support them no matter what are protective and not abusive. LUK will continue to help parents, caregivers, and their children tune into their needs in order to be healthy together. There are nearly 200 harmful LGBTQIA+ bills across our nation targeting transgender and non-binary youth. We ask our staff and community to stand up with us against this harmful Texas order and other bills which will cause devastating preventable stress for youth. Please send an email to a Texas official by clicking here.
