GIFTS Peer Leadership
GIFTS (Getting Involved for Teen Safety), is a peer leadership program offered by LUK, Inc. that was started in 1997. GIFTS’ utilizes a youth development approach to address teen health issues in North Central Massachusetts, with a particular focus on Fitchburg. Youth peer leaders are seen as assets and “part of the solution” to tackling the tough issues of teen pregnancy, the spread of STDs, substance abuses, and teen violence. The Peer Leadership staff is made up of eight to ten (8- 10) area youth ages 13-18 who represent the diversity of the communities we serve.
